Specializing in
website templates and web design services
by a fine artist
for fine artists.
As every artist knows, a good gallery is unobtrusive and designed with care to show your work in it’s best light. Seeing your art online is the next best thing, and as close as many people will come, to seeing it in person. Your online gallery should be as unobtrusive and carefully designed as your in real life gallery. It must enhance your art and allow it to shine. After all, it’s your art, not the gallery that is the star of the show!
Most website galleries look like this:
Sure, viewers can see parts of your artwork at a glance, and then click on the image for a full view, but does cutting off crucial parts of your work really give them the first impression you’re aiming for?
How about something more like this?
What spacing and layout works best for your work?
With the Artist Portfolio Template you get to decide.
You can set up your gallery the way you like. Lots of space between pieces, or a little space between pieces. Grouped together, all spread out, similar sized pieces, large variation in size.
You get to arrange your work in your own gallery the way you think is best to show it in its best light.
The Artist Portfolio Template is a Squarespace template

3 home page layouts
a gallery proportional page
a scrolling artwork page
an individual artwork page

And the Artist Portfolio Template works for all screen sizes
Here’s a peek at the first instructional video - an overview of the process.
Do I have to configure this all on my own?
Only if you want to.
Some artists like the feeling of accomplishment they get from doing much of the website work on their own.
Some artists know they can do the website work, and so they will, because it is cost-effective.
Some artists prefer to spend as much time as possible making art and would rather let someone else take care of the technical website details.
Whether you prefer to do it all on your own or spend as little time as possible setting up and maintaining your site, I can help you.
There are 3 plans to help you get your site up and running and we can work with one of these plans or come up with a hybrid. The goal is to figure out what works best for your particular situation.
The DIY
You open a Squarespace account, obtain or transfer a website domain, install the Artist Portfolio template, upload your images and text, modify the template pages, and arrange the galleries to your liking.
with a little help from almost 2 hours of step-by-step instructional videos broken down into bite-size, manageable sections you can view and review as you go along.
Once you’ve got the hang of adding artwork to your galleries, maintaining them is easy.
And if you’re really into web design, you can use the template as a starting point and go from there. Squarespace has myriad design features and functionalities that you can use to enhance your site once it is up and running.
I’m always available at my hourly rate if you change your mind or run out of time and would prefer that I assist with the setup and/or maintenance.
The Flying Start
We begin with a meeting to discuss the process. You open a Squarespace account and I walk you through the process of obtaining or transferring a website domain. You provide the images and text. I configure the Artist Portfolio template for you and then we meet again to review the site and work out the final details. I make the final changes, and walk you through the process of taking your site live.
You feel confident that you can make future changes - adding and removing artworks from your gallery and updating your about page, etc.,

How long will it be until my site is live?
If you’re setting up the template on your own - the answer is “it depends” - on your experience with this sort of technology, on your creative process, on your access to your artwork images, on your deadline. This is a very individual thing.
When I’m working with you the timeline goes like this:
We set up a one-hour online meeting where we review your requirements.
You provide me with your images and text.
I spend one week configuring your site.
We set up a second meeting to review the site and figure out what needs to be changed.
I spend a second week making the agreed upon changes.
We set up a final meeting where I walk you through the process of loading your site and taking it live.
As changes need to be made to your site - adding new work, removing old work, etc., I work with you on a case by case basis at my hourly rate.
